Low maintenance garden using Plum Slate chippings. Befor chippings are spread the ground is prepared and a weed proof permeable material laid.     Planting through the weed proof material brakes up an otherwise featureless area, addition of mixes size of stones or cobbles around planting adds texture. A brick edging retains the chippings and makes a neat finish.     Static features such as driftwood shown here add another facet to a Low Maintenance garden.     Railway sleepers make interesting material to retain terraced areas to allow planting. Ornamental bark retains moisture, helps prevent weed growth and reduces maintenance. A permeable weed proof sheet can be laid before applying bark chippings.
